Wealth Manager and Business Executive, Greg Mech, to Lead Newport Beach Office of Growing Multi-Family Office Wealth Management Firm
(NEWPORT BEACH, CA) – Caprock announced today that Greg Mech, formerly responsible for Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Wealth Management Business and Strategy in the Western U.S., has joined the firm as a Managing Director in charge of its new office in Newport Beach, California.

“Caprock is focused on providing our clients with the very best talent and experience in the multi-family office wealth management arena,” said Bill Gilbert, a co-founder and Managing Director of Caprock. “Greg is without question a top-tier leader in the field, bringing more than 35 years of experience as a wealth manager, consultant, and entrepreneur to our firm. He is the perfect person to lead our growth into Newport Beach and Southern California.”

During his 29 year tenure at Merrill Lynch & Co., now a division of Bank of America Corporation, Mech served in multiple senior leadership roles, most recently as Managing Director, where he led over 2,000 employees serving high net-worth families in the Western U.S. managing over $100 billion in client assets and liabilities. He was also the Market President for Bank of America in Orange County, California.

“After many years with a traditional investment firm, I realized that clients can be better served in an environment that is free of the conflicts and sales pressures that are associated with the products that most firms sell,” said Mech. “Caprock’s approach is different and is aligned with my values because the firm provides access to the best solutions available to clients throughout the capital markets and wealth management universe. Most importantly they provide solutions that are tailored to the client’s goals and are designed to fulfill the client’s specific needs. I’m excited to bring that approach to Newport Beach and Southern California.”

In addition to leading Caprock’s Newport Beach office, Mech will continue his role as President of Silverlakes LLC, a group developing the largest youth soccer and field sports facility in North America that will serve more than 1.5 million youth athletes per year.

Mech is a dedicated mentor to many professionals and is enthusiastic in promoting education and financial literacy for children. He resides in Laguna Niguel, California with his wife of 34 years and their three children.
